Third Asia-Pacific Meeting (AP-ISMET 2016)

Tuesday, January 19, 2016 - 08:41

Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to announce the “AP-ISMET2016“ meeting, the 3rd Asia Pacific Conference of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology, which will be held at BEXCO, Busan, South Korea on August 31–September 2, 2016.

The AP-ISMET2016 will highlight the progress in research about microbial fuel cells and other bioelectrochemical systems to serve as an open forum for researchers and students. We anticipate showcases of research on fundamental mechanisms and applications. This conference will be co-organized with Busan Global Water Forum (in parallel) to provide an application area in water and wastewater treatment fields.

The natural environment of Busan is an excellent landscape in harmony with mountains, rivers, and sea. Busan is a popular resort area in the summer season, and it is also becoming renowned as an international convention destination.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of AP-ISMET2016, we are looking forward to seeing you at this regional ISMET meeting in Busan, South Korea.

Taeho Lee, Chairman of Organizing Committee for the AP-ISMET2016 meeting.

NA-ISMET: Meeting in Stanford, CA

Thursday, January 7, 2016 - 08:41

Dear microbial electrochemistry aficionados,

We are delighted to announce the next NA-ISMET meeting to be held at Stanford University from Oct 5-7, 2016, starting on Wednesday and ending of Friday afternoon. This meeting will present the latest breakthroughs in basic and applied microbial electrochemistry research, and seeks to be a platform for their integration. We aspire to have a conference were all participants will have an opportunity to talk. We plan that a 30 min key note talk in the morning and in the afternoon will be followed by 20 min intermediate level talks, followed by 10-15 min student/postdoc talks.

And after all, Stanford is located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, so conference participants will have the option to remain in San Francisco for the weekend after the conference if they chose so.

We see you all in October at Stanford!

Alfred Spormann, Craig Criddle, Caroline Ajo-Franklin

(Local Organizing Committee)

Third European ISMET meeting (EU-ISMET 2016)

Thursday, December 3, 2015 - 14:47

Dear Colleague,

It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to the forthcoming “EU-ISMET 2016” (, the 3rd European Meeting of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology, which will take place in Rome (Italy) on 26-28 September 2016.  Following the tradition of previous successful EU-ISMET events (Gent 2012 and Alcalà, 2014), this 3-day meeting will bring together the scientific community to present and discuss the latest advances in research and industrial application of microbial electrochemical technologies.

Through the advise of a stellar International Scientific Committee, featuring among the others the three past and present ISMET Presidents (i.e., Prof. Bruce Logan, Prof. Korneel Rabaey, and Prof. Lars Angenent), EU-ISMET 2016 will discuss key topics such as electrosynthesis of valuable products, electron transfer mechanisms, electrobioremediation, as well as aspects of process development, microbiology, material science and many more.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of EU-SIMET 2016 we look forward to seeing you in the wonderful setting of the “Eternal City”!
